2024 Impact Report

We are not your typical venture capital firm.

To put this value into perspective, consider the following comparisons:

In 2022, Brazil emitted approximately 443 million metric tons of CO₂, making this figure comparable to Brazil's total annual emissions. (source)

Every $0.64 invested with Positive Ventures has the potencial to capture or avoid 1 ton of CO2  emissions

(in this calculation we excluded the tracked emissions)

As our portfolio companies scale and deliver on their decarbonization and carbon sequestration projects in the coming years, we aim to expand our environmental impact while enhancing the accuracy of our impact measurement.

 Nature Positive

“Our diverse group of investors is united by a common mission to create a lasting legacy. This highly engaged community plays a crucial role in empowering our investees to strategically connect with leading companies across Brazil.”

Andrea Kestenbaum, CEO and Co-Founder at Positive Ventures.

Our capital fuels game-changing technologies and visionary entrepreneurs tackling humanity’s most pressing challenges. We don’t just invest; we ignite transformation through meaningful connections, insights, and resources.

We are convinced that tomorrow's most valuable companies will solve humanity's biggest problems. Profit and purpose are not at odds—they are two sides of the same coin. Capitalism as we know it is no longer working, and we’re here to accelerate the shift to a new paradigm.

At Positive Ventures, we break the mold, investing with conviction, purpose, and urgency.

We recognize that nature and society are deeply interconnected.

Rising sea levels, extreme weather, and biodiversity loss don’t just threaten ecosystems - they destabilize economies, deepen inequalities, and endanger lives.

The choices we make today define our ability to confront the climate crisis. Every additional ton of CO₂ emitted carries a $37 toll in increased mortality rates and adaptation costs. (Source)

Measuring impact is complex, but clarity is essential. From now on, we have standardized two key metrics to effectively capture and aggregate the impact of our portfolio across our Nature Positive and People Positive verticals.

Impacted Lives

Measuring the impact on life is not an exact science. Depth, duration, and additionality all shape the true scope of an outcome. While broad, this metric helps quantify the reach of our portfolio’s work.

For each People Positive investment, we go beyond numbers. We rely on scientific-backed research from our founders and globally recognized institutions in their fields. While our portfolio metric tracks reach at a high level, each company we back has the potential to drive deep, lasting transformation in the lives of those they serve.

Impacted Lives: 5,410,725*

(*This number includes the impact of companies that are no longer operating.)

This figure represents years of backing bold entrepreneurs, each driving meaningful change in people’s lives. 66% of those impacted come from underserved communities.

EDUCATION

Thousands of public school students and low-income children now have access to better learning opportunities.

Healthcare

Technology introduced in public hospitals and clinics has improved efficiency and saved lives, while other startups have expanded access to high-quality, affordable care for those without private insurance.

Workforce & Employability

Our investments in upskilling have helped people secure better job opportunities, improving economic mobility.

A CONTRIBUTION

PER LIFE

For every $5.34 invested through Positive Ventures has improved one life.

This figure solely reflects our People Positive investments and does not account for the countless lives positively impacted by our climate and environmentally focused ventures.

TOTAL CO₂e IMPACT:

452,462,885 Tons

That’s a hell of a big number—but it’s just the beginning. A portion comes from ongoing reforestation projects and business model transitions aimed at reducing future emissions, meaning much of this impact will unfold in the coming years.

We are fighting for the future we believe in.

And we’re not alone in this journey.

As our portfolio grows and we deploy new capital, we are committed to scaling this impact exponentially, ensuring our investments drive deeper, lasting transformation.
